This is the branding research that I made on my own
Electric Callboy
Electric Callboy uses a simple font on their logo but utilises a series of colour right next to it which acts as their trademark. We could see these colours throughout their CD covers. This may have been used for branding, so that people can identify these colours with their band. Their album covers have a tendency of having high exposure, causing it to look bright. They either have a text as or an image that represents the music in the CD. As a techno band on the younger side, their social media page consists of mostly memes, short comedic edited videos, and sometimes promotional content. Again, the same colours on their logo are prevalent throughout their content. Similarly to their album covers, their music videos are relatively bright in nature and quite highly exposed. The music videos seem to contain themes of light subject matter such as garden parties.
Alan Walker
Alan Walker uses a simple vector logo which shows the outlines of his initials overlapped over one another, simple yet recognizable. Apart from the logo, his brand is also built around his persona of the slender man in the hoodie with a mask as those three features could be seen in all 3 album covers and even in the music video. A characteristic of his album covers is to have bright lights or futuristic effects on it. Alternatively he uses a dystopian scene as well for his album cover. He is present in all of his album covers in his iconic look. His Instagram posts consists mostly of portraits of himself in shows or promotional content for his music. There rarely are any informal posts. Alan Walker posts exactly the same things on Facebook as he does on Instagram, similar to Electric Callboy. His music video is made up of very muted colors which goes against the branding built through the album covers or the bright nature of electronic music.
Reflection: Researching branding really gave me a great idea on how to create a brand image for our star. It has really put into light the importance of branding and marketing. Making yourself recognizable is what sets you apart from the sea of artists in the music world. Our star must be unique and out of the norm!
